Learn Something About Btrieve Tools
Btrieve is a control system of records, which provides full indexation on key fields, developed for maintenance of high efficiency at data processing. Btrieve Program stores information in data files in Btrieve format. The majority of management programs of databases support files of data Btrieve; thus, you can use Btrieve from any of these programs. Btrieve supports a multi-user access. Simultaneously files of Btrieve data can use many appendices. Btrieve guarantees that the information the data files will not be destroyed.
System Btrieve Record Manager can be carried out on the NetWare server (variant Btrieve for a server) or on a workstation (variant Btrieve for the client). The first variant is delivered in the complete set of OS NetWare and consists of a set of programs NLM NetWare for server. Complete set Btrieve for a server includes also a set of other executed files for workstations, which provide access to Btrieve files on this server (or on any other NetWare server, on which Btrieve is established).By means of the programs NLM and executed files you can carry out Btrieve appendices both on a server, and on a workstation.
The second variant (Btrieve for the client workstation) is accessible only together with Btrieve Development Kit (a set of programs for development of Btrieve appendices), which is got separately from OS NetWare. This set provides developers with the means necessary for creation of Btrieve appendices.
Btrieve Development Kit includes variant Btrieve Record Manager for a workstation and Application Program Interface (the interface of applied programs), providing access to appendices of Btrieve data files, and to API documentation. Variant Btrieve for a workstation can be carried out under control of various programs, including DOS, OS/2 and MS Windows. Variant Btrieve for a workstation allows carrying out Btrieve appendices on your workstation, providing access to Btrieve data files on NetWare server.
Btrieve increases reliability of information storage, practically excepting an opportunity of destruction of databases at network failures, client-stations or power supplies. Safety and logic integrity of bases is defined by stability of server work and is provided at the level of work with records of one base, as well as at the level of the coordination of several bases (transaction) changes.
